Additional cover
Hiring out your static caravan
Should you want to hire out your static caravan when you are not using it, you have the option to add this cover to your policy. This policy excludes malicious damage cover, which can be added when you take out your policy and has an excess of £250.
Homecare emergency
You can choose to include homecare emergency as an additional product with your policy. It provides a 24-hour helpline and assistance, including emergency repair services. Policy limit of £1000 per emergency applies.
Key protection
We can offer you cover for your keys if they are lost, damaged by accidental means or stolen. As well as replacement insured keys, it will also cover you for locksmith charges and new locks if a security risk has occurred. The insurer will cover the cost of reasonably incurred onward transportation if you are stranded due to the loss or theft of your keys up to a maximum of £100 per day up to a maximum of 3 days.
When you need to make a claim, we'll help you through the process by putting you in contact with the insurers to get your claim settled as quickly as possible.
Please refer to your insurance policy documents for the claims number. Alternatively call the claims team on 0344 892 1384 and explain exactly what happened. Make sure you have your policy documents and all your information to hand.
Your static caravan insurance or leisure home insurance policy will be individual to you and the premium will depend on a number of factors including, the level of cover you choose, the age and size of your property, the property and content values you need to insure and your claims history. It is therefore difficult to give an estimate on the cost of cover.
Insuring a leisure home on a new for old basis ensures you will receive a brand new, equivalent model if an insured peril causes damage beyond repair. It is important that in this case, the sums insured reflect the cost of buying a brand new equivalent caravan. Towergate can insure static caravans up to 20 years old on a new for old basis.
Static caravan insurance or leisure home insurance can protect you in three main ways:
We allow you to specify the contents amount you want to insure. Make sure you consider what contents you have, to assess the value you will need insured. You may also choose to insure your contents on a new for old or a market value basis. If you choose new for old cover you should consider how much it will cost to replace your contents as new.
We have provided a summary of the key features of the policy, above. For details of the terms and conditions applicable, please refer to the insurance product information document and policy wording, which are available during the quotation process.

Whilst static caravan insurance is not a legal requirement it is important to protect yourself from the risk that can come with owning a leisure home. Your site may also require you to have at least a basic level of liability insurance or require proof of insurance.
We offer new for old or market value cover on the home, its contents, additional structures or personal possessions.
No, this is not covered by your insurance policy.
If you currently do not hold a policy with us, our new Leisure Home policy offers extended cover for when you hire out your caravan. The extended hiring out cover protects you in the event of loss or damage caused by malicious persons or vandals, theft or attempted theft and accidental damage whilst let or lent.
Your standard policy will only provide cover for loss or damage when you are staying at the caravan. With extended hiring out cover, your guests can stay a maximum of four consecutive weeks, up to 20 weeks per year.
When letting or lending the property you are required to carry out an inspection within 72 hours after your guests depart. The unoccupied element of your cover will remain unchanged therefore you will need to ask your guests or arrange to have the water, gas and electric turned off at the mains.
However, not all our policies offer this extension, so if you already have a policy with us please speak to one of our advisors to establish whether we can offer you hiring out cover on 01242 894061.
When you purchase your static caravan insurance policy, we will send you a welcome email with your Policy Schedule, Policy Wording, IPID and our Terms of Business. If you have requested paper versions, these documents will be sent to you in the post.
If you purchased your policy after August 2019, you can also view your documents in your online portal. If you are renewing your policy, your documents will be emailed to you in your renewal pack or available in your online portal in the ‘My Account’ section.
