Whether you’re putting up a shelf or refurbishing a whole house you can choose contractors public liability a cover, with limits up to £5 million available. As your business grows you may take on staff too – if so you can arrange employers’ liability insurance covering both temporary, permanent and sub-contracted employees up to £10 million, meeting your legal responsibilities.

Tools insurance for handymen

With a flexible tools’ cover limit set by you, you can select to cover most tools of the trade from electrical power tools, right down to a spirit level and brushes. Your tool insurance policy can also include employee’s tools specialist and hired in equipment. Tools must be locked securely outside business hours, and a single item limit may apply.

Depending on your trades you have the option to include cover for more than one trade. If you also undertake electrical work and hold the relevant certificates and accreditation, this can be included in your policy.

Cover for tools should be arranged on a new for old replacement value so that if your tools are lost, damaged or stolen, they will be replaced with brand new products of equivalent value. Single article limits will apply and cover for tools left in vans overnight will be excluded.

Yes, you can cover labour only sub-contractors, as well as PAYE staff for the same risks under your Employers’ Liability insurance cover. it is very important to declare how your workforce are employed as this will affect how your risks are calculated.

To help you spread the cost of your premiums, you can choose to spread payment over ten months with the Markel quick and easy Direct Debit scheme.
